It’s January and once again it’s time for the Consumer Electronics Show, more popularly known as the CES, to roll into town. Since 1967, the CES has been a stomping ground for just about every major consumer technology company to show off their latest products and advances. Over the past few years, it has been the home to some of the most important tech announcements such as those of the Blu-Ray Disc back in 2004 and DirectX10 in 2007.
3D technology is going to be one of the main driving forces behind this year’s show. Sure, the technology has been around for quite a while now, but it has never enjoyed this much mainstream success until now. This can mostly be attributed to its use in films such as Avatar and subsequent 3D releases. It’s safe to assume that we’ll be seeing new announcements and product reveals such as new 3D TV models and more glasses-free, 3D-capable mobile devices.
The Consumer Electronics Show 2011 will be held from tomorrow, January to the 9th at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
